Timeline of Lockdown in India Initial Lockdown (March 2020) : Announcement : On March 24, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19. Duration : The initial phase lasted for 21 days and was later extended multiple times.
