Happy International Women’s Day 2026

Dear Women Biochemists,

Happy International Women’s Day 2026

On this special occasion, we celebrate the strength, dedication, and achievements of women in the field of Biochemistry. As a vibrant academic community in a women’s college, we take pride in the contributions of women scientists who have advanced biochemical research and inspired future generations.

Globally, pioneers such as Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin, Gerty Cori, Rosalind Franklin, and Jennifer Doudna have made remarkable contributions to understanding biomolecular structures, metabolic pathways, DNA structure, and gene-editing technologies.

India has also produced many outstanding women scientists who have made significant contributions to biochemistry and molecular biology.

Dr. Kamala Sohonie
Dr. Kamala Sohonie, one of the first Indian women biochemists, made important discoveries on the nutritional value of proteins and vitamins. Dr. Asima Chatterjee made pioneering contributions to natural product chemistry and medicinal biochemistry. Dr. Darshan Ranganathan contributed greatly to bio-organic chemistry and molecular design, inspiring many young women in chemical and biochemical sciences.

Inspired by these pioneers, the women faculty, researchers, and students in our Biochemistry community continue to contribute to teaching, learning, and innovative research. Your dedication, passion for science, and commitment to academic excellence play a vital role in shaping the future of scientific discovery.

Let us continue to empower and support each other, fostering curiosity, innovation, and leadership among women in science.

Wishing all the wonderful women in our Biochemistry community continued success, happiness, and many more milestones in research and education.

Warm wishes on International Women’s Day!
